Topography & site models
Topography models make the shape of the land easier to understand. A physical topographic model lets people follow slopes, roads and building locations together, whether you are presenting a mountain resort, planning a site or explaining a landscape.

The slope around The Amble in Steamboat Springs is central to understanding that development. The Daybreak model covers a much wider area, with landforms, roads, paths and lots all visible. We choose the area, scale and finish with the client after seeing the source material.

A survey, elevation data or site drawings help us understand the landscape. We’ll discuss the area to include and the features people should recognize. On a site model, terrain and architecture have to work together, so the scale needs to make both the landforms and the proposed buildings clear. Golf course models can also show how the holes and the course layout fit into the land. Learn what a topographic model can show and how scale and detail are chosen.
