Westinghouse eVinci Microreactor
Westinghouse commissioned a cutaway model of its eVinci microreactor that opens up components normally sealed inside the reactor.
Showing what is inside
The cutaway exposes the reactor's internal components, and color separates each part so viewers can follow how they fit together. We built the model from Westinghouse reference images and design information. It measures about 72 inches long and 18 inches in diameter at roughly 1:7 scale, on a wheeled display base.
The cutaway and color treatment solve different presentation problems. Opening the outer form makes the normally enclosed arrangement visible; separate colors help a viewer distinguish adjacent components. The approximately one-to-seven reduction brings the reactor representation to display size. Together, the open section and color coding let a presenter move between the reactor’s overall form and the internal layout shown within it.
