USCG Training Model
The U.S. Coast Guard commissioned a detailed waterfront facility model for training at its facility in Yorktown, Virginia.
A shared reference for the classroom
Instructors use the model alongside lectures, laboratory exercises and demonstrations across several courses. Students can point to any part of the site as they discuss safety, security and environmental requirements, which is far clearer than working from a list of locations or a flat plan.
A waterfront training discussion can move between a single location and the facility’s overall arrangement. The model keeps that wider reference available while an instructor points out a particular area. At one inch to sixteen feet, the three-by-five-foot display reduces the facility to classroom size. Its role is to support instruction about the site; course materials supply the specific procedures and requirements being taught.
