Museum Topography Model, St Charles Heritage Museum

Museum Topography Model

Archetype3D is renowned for its expertise in creating topographical models that accurately depict historical landscapes. Our collaboration with the Heritage Museum involved the construction of a captivating topographical model that combined real-world elevation data with historical imaging.

The model was meticulously built to scale, ensuring an accurate representation of the terrain. However, in order to emphasize the unique features of the landscape, we chose to exaggerate the vertical scale by three times. This artistic choice allowed for a more visually striking and engaging representation of the historical landscape.

One notable alteration made to the model was the adjustment of the Missouri River’s position to match its historical location rather than its current-day location. This attention to historical accuracy further enhanced the model’s authenticity and provided visitors with a glimpse into the past.

The Heritage Museum, known for its dedication to preserving and sharing local and state history, offers visitors a wealth of interpretive displays. Spanning an impressive 6,000 square feet, the museum is located on the site formerly known as Kuhlmann’s Grove. This area held significant cultural and recreational importance for residents of St. Charles County for nearly a century.

Archetype3D’s topographical model serves as a valuable educational tool within the museum, allowing visitors to engage with and explore the historical landscape. The model’s intricate details and accurate representation of the terrain offer a unique perspective on the region’s history, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the local heritage.
